I love this journey. I remember you showing us pictures of furniture and whatnot for your last apartment on IG and getting our opinions. You really feel like a friend I haven’t met.
So moving - literally tearing up as I read it. While I am not quite old enough to be your mother, can I still say that I am proud of you?! Your honest take on life - its challenges and triumphs, and even the every day things that seem trivial but aren't - is inspirational. With one child about to graduate from college and the other from high school, your story is a reminder that the bumps in the road (with hindsight and reflection) are great learning experiences. Thank you for sharing. Also, you are an excellent writer.
You brought me to tears, Isabelle. What an amazing trilogy you have shared with all of us. So thankful for your willingness to share so freely. A room of one's own is such a powerful thing as. you learned first hand. 💜
This gave me goosebumps in the best way. I love reading about your life and where it is taking you. You have such a bright, hopeful, wonderful future ahead of you and I am so excited for you!
Had this convo with others. Which of your friends would you trust to view a home (to buy or rent) on your behalf? I’m so particular I don’t know if I’d trust many people to know how *I* like to live. Glad you have that person to help you!
This has been such a fantastic series, but this one… oof... this one hit me hard and left me in a puddle. Wonderful storytelling and a path I recognize deeply. Cheers to the new beginning but also the closing of an old one. Seasons of growth are hard but beautiful nonetheless.
You are making me revive so many lost memories of my own past apartments, my journey has been so similar to yours, sharing apartments with friends, boyfriends and finally accomplishing living alone in a tiny place for only a year before meeting my current husband!! Could not be more similar!!
It really is!! And get this, I also feel like that tiny apartment 'healed me', I was going through a very different heartbreak than yours but I also got to heal my broken parts and get to dive into myself in a way I was never able to before...
And if your journey is anything like mine ... Great things are definitely coming your way!!
Beautiful words! As someone who is less than a year into therapy, and currently living alone, I related to this a lot. I *love* living by myself with just my dog. My boyfriend and I are talking about moving in, and I'm starting to grieve the loss of solitude. But this article makes me hopeful and shows me I should be focusing on the positives of living together. I think everyone should live alone for a portion of their life, I'm so glad you achieved your goal of it! And how exciting for Simon to have a yard 🥰

You guys have been there every step of the way!
A truly inspirational story of healing through independence! ❤️
Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for saying all of this. Sending love to you and your kids too!
Just a beautiful unfolding story about life.
Every part of life is beautiful if you look hard enough <3
Love it and I don’t even know you except thru IG! Such a love story. Keep a man that buys ya flowers without a reason!
Flowers are my love language!
Mine too. It’s what they do, not what they say! Always remember that.

I absolutely agree – living alone was the greatest gift!

Great question! I definitely trust Megan with literally ANYTHING, she knows me better than anyone.
Waiting patiently for the video that follows :)
I loved the Clinton Hill apartment, it was super cute and I loved how well you decorated it
I loved it too. It will always hold the most special place in my heart!

I couldn't agree more.

As always, loving every word!

I’m ready for the book!!
:)
This was my favorite chapter of this short story book with a happy and optimistic ending. 💚
Gotta love a happy ending :)
So ready for the next adventure. 💚
